Bacon or Bagel for Breakfast?

No comments:

Here's an interesting infographics from Massive Health. The way I understand it, it just want to convey that choosing the right food does not necessary mean staying away from fat or carbohydrates. Based on my readings lately, there are good and bad carbo and fats. And this infographics says it all.

6 drinks I must have every day

No comments:
Based on an article in Yahoo today, there are six drinks one must have to fight ageing, and when is the best time of the day to drink them.

Water as first in the list must be taken any time of the day especially when you feel dehydrated. Dehydration does not only show in our skin or in our eyes. It shows also in the internal organs. I can attest to that when I went under the knife and my doctor was worried with how dehydrated my liver, gall bladder, and stomach are.

A cup of black coffee for breakfast can help speed up metabolism. Well, I drink coffee anytime of the day with sugar and cream. And that does not do me any good. So I must try black coffee only now.

A cup of green tea for hot. I assume this must be hot or warm. A Chinese friend once told me that I must drink a cup of hot or warm water after every heavy meal to help my digestive system to avoid oil from food I ate to turn into solid form. A cup of green tea also helps perking up metabolism.

A glass of warm choco drink for afternoon snack. I want it hot. Others like it cold. Choco drink has more caffeine content that can help me survive the rest of the day.

A glass of red wine for dinner. This is something I must get accustomed to. I am not a wine drinker. But there is no harm in trying.

And lastly a glass of warm milk. I have been doing this on and off for my calcium source.

Search for a Suitable Fitness Equipment

No comments:
After my check-up with an endocrinologist yesterday, I am now in search for a fitness equipment suitable for my needs. The talk with the doctor set my direction on striving to keep myself healthy.

When I had my first check-up with my OB-Gyne, she asked me to see an endocrinologist to work up on some clearances I need for my weight issue which has a great effect on my PCOS condition. I am not diabetic based on the random sugar testing done to me yesterday. But being morbidly obese is such a condition that I need to address if I really want to be free from PCOS and be alive ten years from now.
I asked if any medical procedure is possible to which my endocrinologist replied negatively. He said that there are ways to trim down safely without going under the knife. It is the same reason why there are reality shows like The Biggest Loser and Heavy because they want to tell the public that eating the right food, exercising with or without any fitness equipment, and having a healthy and active lifestyle are big steps to achieve a weightloss goal.

With a BMI equivalent to 45 for an Asian, I am beyond Obese II classification. I am now weighing 267 lbs standing 5'3, I only need to take 1,600 calories daily. Now I am working on ways to divide this intake in six smalls meals from breakfast to midnight snacks.

Now, aside from brisk walking, I better get the right fitness equipment I can put at home. Yes, I am not a gym fanatic, but I think having a fitness equipment at home can help me a lot. What do you think? So what are the possible fitness equipment I can get for home?

Starting Weight: 251lbs

No comments:
I am trying to revive this space for another and another round of attempt of losing weight. Since I have not feeling well for the past weeks due to abnormal bleeding that I have been experiencing, I went to see my doctor earlier. I was supposed to drop by her clinic last Friday but I felt too dizzy to move. In fact, I just stayed on bed the whole morning then tried to go to Manila Book Fair early in the afternoon. But I was not able to enjoy the exhibit because I just sat in one place while waiting for my sister to pick me up because I felt too dizzy.

Come Saturday, my head was too heavy. I was teary-eyed and had a terrible headache. I again popped two advil caplets after every six hours. I had my enzyme water. That at least made me to sleep. My migraine attacks lately are unexplainable. As unexplainable as the bleeding that has been happening to me.

Anyway, I was trying to work from home whenever I feel I can but had to go back to bed when I feel uneasy again. Thank you to Internet and this is made possible.

Going back to the clinic, I went there at aroung 3pm when I felt a little better. I had to wait until almost 7pm to talk with my doctor. She had to perform two surgeries so I had to wait. After sharing with her what has been happening to me, she asked me to come back for transvaginal ultrasound and bone screening on Thursday. Tomorrow, I have to submit myself to blood testing. I asked for an emergency leave from work to have a full rest.

This is so untimely since we have so much to do at work. But I cannot compromise my health now. I did it in te past and it almost cost my life and I will not do it again this  time.

When I started this blog, I was clueless on my weight. Well, I had the chance to weigh myself earlier. My weight? 251lbs. OMG!!!! This is my biggest weight ever!!!

Recalling the days before the operation

No comments:

It was 1135 am when I woke up in the recovery room. There was a nurse beside me holding my hand and keeping a piece of plastic still in my nostrils. It was an oxygen tube. I saw her rolled a piece of cloth and asked me to hold it firm against my upper right abdomen. I didn't feel any pain. I am alive. I have survived. I closed my eyes and let myself sank into a deep sleep.
I remember to be in front of my immediate supervisor last Friday. I was telling him that I need to be away from work for a month since I have to undergo a major operation. The pain really convinced me to decide this time. I was not sure if the money I have on hand would be enough, but just the same, I have to do it. I also talked to my staff leaving instructions. I knew then during the meeting that I will still report for work for two more days before the operation. But I was wrong. I went ot my doctor in the afternoon of the same day. After the check-up, she advised me to return that same day to be admitted to the hospital. No matter how much I haggle for the dates, she was determined to have me admitted the same day. She explained that I need to be prepared for the procedure. Two days would be needed for that. I complied. I wanted to live. I want to live...
I went home to tell my family about it. I went to the mall to buy things I would be needing. I pack the necessary things I would be needing for the five-day stay in the hospital.
8 PM, June 19, I was back to the hospital. After the usual admission procedure, the nurse showed me to my room. Gladly, though the room was made for two patients, I will be alone tonight. My youngest sister was with me. Different things were going around my mind. I was not really sure what will happen. The doctor explained the procedure in one of my check ups. It sounded so easy but fear was there. The nurse came to give me IV and gave further instructions left by the doctor. I had high fever. I was chilling though the aircon unit was off. The nurses brought a drop light to warm me.
I was glad I decided to be admitted. That Friday night was like a hell to me. The pain was killing me. I cried the whole time and I was begging for pain killer. Glady I had two kinds of pain killer. The one was Novaine and the other I forgot the name. The effect of Novaine in me was good for an hour only. Then there went the pain again. After an hour, the nurse gave me the other pain killer which really calmed me down and let me sleep for more than four hours.
The following day was different. Still no food. I was in IV and pain killers. The doctor came and discussed with me the results of the laboratory test. The operation would be on Monday morning. She said I need to undergo further preparation because the lab test results showed that the infection really set in.
Later that day, I transfered to another room. Then another doctor checked on me for clearance - my heart, my lungs, and other aspects before the operation. Friends from school and office visited me. Later that day, I was sedated again since the pain was bugging me again.
I wonder how could I have managed the pain should I not agree to be admitted to the hospital earlier. I do not know.
